For each different type of grants, there are different criteria.  There are also companies that provide grants to intelligent students.  Cal Grants are given by the state government.  If you come from native Asian-America, Africa-America, native America or Hispanic, you can also avail grants.  There are also grants meant for single mothers who have children and who want to continue further education.

• The school should be accredited by a reputable accrediting agency.
• Prepare the necessary legal and financial papers or documents.

The state of California has two major plans and these are the Cal Grants and Cal Fee Waiver plan.   These grants have three sub-plans and these are Cal Grant A, B and C.  These grants are made to help undergraduates who come from low income or even middle income families.  Students who want to avail of these grants should fill out a FAFSA application.
